Listen, I know I report on news ranging everywhere from politics to celebrities, but there’s not too many award shows or events that I follow religiously.
…Except the Met Gala. Someday, I want to go to the actual fucking Met Gala and wear one of those ridiculous dresses, drink a fancy cocktail and laugh about how I used to be poor, but I digress.
Since I’m in New York fucking City, I thought it would be an amazing idea to check out the Metropolitan Museum of Art itself including the Camp exhibit which was this year’s theme for the 2019 Gala. The designers minced the theme – except for Billy Porter – but the exhibit was actually pretty awesome!
Afterwards, I took a stroll through Central Park on my way to a brewery. The weather was humid because it rained, but since I’ve lived in Satan’s Asshole most of my life it wasn’t unbearable.
Besides getting my culture on, I’m finding out that I like to aimlessly wander. It’s easy to wander through Manhattan and find something cool whether it’s day or night.
Of course, I had to go to Times Square which I’m pretty sure is a constant cluster fuck no matter when you go. Huge crowds aside, it’s one of the most amazing things I’ve seen. It’s so filled with energy and so massive that you have to take a moment to stop and breathe in the sheer magnitude.
There’s billboards, huge ass buildings, street performers, food carts, shopping… it’s a lot to take in, but it’s so amazing. I feel like I could go on and on about how incredible it is. If you haven’t seen it before, I implore you to go. I’m certainly glad I did! It makes me realize that even at thirty-two years old, there are still things in life that’ll wow the hell out of me.
I could happily get lost in this place a million times over.
